The Musing of a Winnipeg Guy
As an entrepreneur I constantly make blunders which I have learned from, and suffered from. Especially when it comes to social media, as like you I found so much information there was just not a great place to start my efforts.
Social media is quick, sending fast information to prospects and customers is outrageously simple. As with most of us, as entrepreneurs we actually cause others to think negatively about our businesses or worse our prospects and clients start to unfollow us. If we don’t act quickly, our prospects and clients look the other way online, so immediately we need to improve our strategies.
I have an opinion on Social Media “Experts” that come from experience of being lead down the wrong path by a few. It was not until I realized for myself that their direction was although slight in difference, they really had just given me the same answers and solutions. “Experts” are worth the effort to stay away from!
I met a professional social media marketer whom took my eager entrepreneurial hand and lead me away from talking about my products and offering so many things to my prospects and clients. Instead I found how present benefit to my prospects, which in turn turned them into customers.
The focus of any social media efforts should be on the customer and how your efforts and offerings will be helpful to their specific needs and the current times!
We have our minds in so many different places at any given time; we are constant influx of change and growth. Unfortunately our clients and more importantly prospects are not. We join social media to connect with them, and either waste their time or forget about them.
Social Media requires updates and postings regularly. Not every day, but on a regular basis. We need to take care of the people whom follow us online, and we do this by sending out regular information and participating in online activities. Otherwise people online will lose interest in your stagnate or overwhelming participating very quickly!
Ok maybe you are not cheap, and you are not looking for handouts. If your thinking that social media is a great free way to promote and grow your business, you are missing out on great benefits to your business and efforts.
There is so many things that are free online, yet many features and tools are available that are not. Beneficial tools and features which will grow your efforts power and assist you to reach your goal! Improve your chances by investing in advertising on social media tools you use. Further reach your goal with efforts with the use of a professional.
Professionals can manage your account, maintain an active social media account and these investments will be worth the income and customers they assist you with.
We are people, business is run by people, and there is a personality to be had. People relate to personalities, they create the substance and similarities to them which they connect with. Social media is not about the quick sale, although a lot of us have tried to use Social Media solely to make a quick sale. This immediate reward has a catch which can be as devastating as negative feedback from customers.
Social Media is to foster solid long term relationships with prospects and targeted clients. The very people who can and will further improve the status and reputation of your business activities and goals. Don’t forget to create an online personality, and target and exact audience through the use of that personality.
I have found this not to be so true. I like the latest and greatest, learning something new, and growing above and before the curve. What an accomplishment to be the next greatest, but this is not the recommended as they are not always worth your time or effort.
When attempting to use Social Media to gain your foothold into your niece, using the general rule to use the biggest social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, and Instagram is a good rule to follow. These sites are established and have large number of users. Fact Facebook & Twitter have the majority of social media population; others should be used depending on type of business you run and your online objectives.
The effort you are putting into your social media marketing efforts and all the time you spend on line is a reflection of business and more importantly of you. You are an Entrepreneur and your business is built from the start on your shoulders. Why tarnish or hurt your efforts by being negative?
Pointing out your competitions weaknesses may get you noticed, but pointing out your competitions strengths will get you sales. Your being social, social channels should mean your engaging with customers, if your engaging customers you will be building relationships. Let your prospects know what your intentions are and your business objectives. Avoiding the conversations about personal experiences as these may put your business in the wrong light.
Negative feedback happens, and can be a positive. Address their problem privately or if a public address is the only means. Take the time to take that negative situation and turn it into a positive to show prospects and customers you have what it takes to turn things around. You show prospects and customers you are serious about being the business they come to for their needs.
Random targeting is confusing and ultimately fail to achieve desire of those whom you may want to use your services or buy your products! Focus your target, understand your customer, know their needs.
Having 2 social media accounts on the same social media platform is not going to help you broaden your horizons or attract more customers. Creating a distinctly different personality on different sites to attract different types of customers only confuses your prospects, and may offend or put off some of the your best customers.
Regardless of the platform create a specific demographic that will be your main target audience. Do not fail to focus on your target customers, so not to waste a lot of your time and more so large amounts of your money on people online who just are not interested and never will use your services or buy your products.
It’s far easier to advertise and relate to individuals whom can actually relate to your industry and find benefit with your offers instantly.
